Agent Appointment for Importers and Exporters
ZRA states that importers and exporters appoint clearing agents through its web-based appointment module. The requirement sits under section 184 of Zambia's Customs and Excise Act. The appointment authorises the selected company to clear for that importer or exporter.
Select the clearing company electronically
ZRA says the owner of the goods logs into the portal and chooses from licensed clearing companies. The module allows up to five clearing companies for ordinary business needs and lets the owner remove or replace an appointment. Clients needing more than five can apply to the Commissioner – Customs Service.
Authorisation Before Customs Declaration Submission
Once the electronic appointment is recorded, ASYCUDAWorld recognises that clearing company as authorised for the client. ZRA states that a transaction from an agent who has not been authorised will be rejected. Ultima checks your appointment before submitting the declaration.
Confirm Your Appointment With Ultima
Provide your appointment confirmation with your shipment documents. Your licensed clearing agent checks that the authorisation covers your case before proceeding.
